Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Manager to join our lower tier COMAH facility based in Birmingham. We are a family owned company running for almost 200 years and we have a strong presence in the chemical manufacturing sector. Reporting directly to the MD, you will have HSE oversight on 160 staff relying on you to keep them safe at work.

This is how you will spend your time

  • Devising and implementing suitable HSE systems.
  • Reporting progress and issues to senior management and MD.
  • Working closely with regulators, the media and trade associations.
  • Identifying HSE training needs and advising on technical content.
  • Investigating and solving HSE problems.
  • Setting HSE policies alongside the Safety Committee.
  • Operating a £200K budget.

If you have these skills, we are excited to speak with you

  • You will have multiple years’ H&S management expertise in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • You will have a strong track record improving SHE performance and culture. You will hold a relevant NEBOSH diploma and be ISO 14001 trained.
  • You will be a member of C.O.S.H. and the Institute of Environmental Managers.
  • You will be a regulatory expert in the fast-paced chemical industry sector.

Strong technical skills aside, you will be able to clearly communicate to internal teams, government bodies, and senior management. You will be highly motivated to tackle issues before they become a problem, and always be a step ahead.
