Measures of success -
In the first few months, you would have:

  • Gained a deep insight into Global's business model - focusing on our Outdoor business to understand and effectively articulate industry and competitor best practice, and actual performance
  • Understood client and wider partner requirements and aspirations and how these might align with Global's future strategies
  • Developed Global's environmental strategy, having gained enthusiastic support from senior leadership
  • Supported the Commercial and Outdoor teams in commercial tenders, including PPN 06/21 readiness for large government contracts
  • Established Global's Net Zero roadmap in line with Ad Net Zero, including Scope 3 measurement and approach
  • Engaged Globallers and our wider supply chain to review current activities and adopt balanced operational practices

Responsibilities of the role

  • Ensuring Global have an impactful environmental agenda, driving meaningful change across the business whilst supporting our wider commercial ambitions
  • Designing and executing Global's net zero roadmap in line with our Ad Net Zero commitments, developing the company's carbon reduction strategy and sustainability policy
  • Identifying environmental risks and ensuring compliance with legislation requirements
  • Publishing our annual "Environmental Impact Report" detailing Global's accomplishments, improvements, and strategy for continuous improvement
  • Supporting and maintaining our appropriate certifications and accreditations, including SECR and ISO certifications
  • Improving the use and efficiency of all energies, including water, with the key goal to reduce use and waste throughout the group, reducing costs across the business through assessment of best practices, available technologies and operational activities
  • Working across all departments including Outdoor, Audio & Tech to ensure Global are at the forefront of the media industry, utilising our platforms and channels as a force for good and serving the future needs of our clients and partners
  • Supporting our environmental responses to pitches and tenders
  • Managing incoming queries and leading thought leadership, both internally and externally, ensuring that we are communicating the right messages and successfully sharing our achievements and best practices
  • Leading the committee, ensuring we are continually developing the right operations and initiatives across our teams
  • Managing relationships with our environmental third-party consultants, coordinating the audit assurance and reporting of Global's environmental footprint, which includes emissions and environmental metrics
  • Driving innovation across our business, including the development of greener products and solutions for our operations and clients

What you will need
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • Be an environmental expert with a minimum of 3 years in a environmental role, implementing environmental strategies and carbon reduction plans and guiding organisations through sustainability transformation (experience within the Media / Advertising industry desirable, but not essential)
  • Have a detailed understanding of legislative requirements for carbon reporting and waste management
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently whilst building strong relationships and influencing both internal and external partners
  • Be able to deliver inspiring presentations and lead and facilitate working groups
  • Be a strong communicator with the ability to write tender responses and reports to suit varying audiences, proficient in translating technical facts and data into business language
  • Be resilient and patient, overcoming challenges and proposing solutions for problems, driving results and continuous improvement
  • Have a high level of project management and organisational skills with attention to detail, able to prioritise workload effectively to ensure key deliverables are timely and within budget
