EPCm Construction Manager - Cheshire Based
Wood have a requirement to recruit an experienced EPCm Construction Manager to work on a Brownfield site, managing an Oil & Gas project on behalf of our client.
The opportunity will be based in the North West for a duration of 14 months with the possibility to extend longer term.

The scope of work will include CFA piling, a new access road, various civils scopes, instrument & electrical tie-in to existing sub-stations and instrument rooms, cable trenching / cable routing, reinstatement of storage tanks and associated new pipework, installation of large pumps & associated pipework requiring heavy lifting & logistics expertise.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Executing assigned scopes of work in a timely manner and within Key Performance Indicator (KPI) schedules.
  • Delivering and actively promoting the Wood core values, policies and procedures.
  • Driving safety leadership and ensuring safe delivery of multi-discipline work scopes.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with management, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Delivering Construction activities in line with Construction Excellence.
  • Reviewing planned activities for constructability, providing accurate feedback.
  • Executing assigned scopes of work as a role model for reports.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance on all construction related activities.
  • Managing and leading all construction reports to ensure delivery against milestones and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
  • Set and apply strategic and tactical direction with regard to policy / procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting.
  • Mentoring, supervising and supporting development for reports, ensure learning opportunities are captured and realised.
  • Provide input to the performance management of direct reports through supervision.
  • Ensure management of third party suppliers in the execution of operational delivery.
  • Effective delegation to ensure the continuity of work scope execution.
  • Ensure competence of direct reports and review in accordance with competency assessment programme.

Expected Qualifications & Experience:
  • Time served relevant trade discipline or relevant qualifications NVQ/SVQ/HNC/HND.
  • 10 years relevant construction experience with at least 5 years in a Lead role.
  • Oil & Gas, Petrochemical industry experience is essential.
  • Exposure to working within a technical environment.
  • Experience of people management (construction).

Role-Specific Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal organisational, communication and team building skills.
  • Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge.
  • Ability to be assertive and drive culture change when required, monitor work progress and report against the plan.
  • Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), HAZCON and Constructability.
  • Ability to advise system and subsystem priorities within construction activities with a view to achieving early handover.
  • Ability to work with timelines/targets.
  • Display both good judgment and leadership qualities.

External:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with external customers and third party vendors.
  • Manage interfaces across functional and business boundaries.
  • Engage with and promote the construction community including networking and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain communication with respective focal points.

  • Communicate and co-operate with external stakeholders including industry bodies, academia, market intelligence, relevant conferences, vendors, business acquisition and business development.
