Event Manager

148 hours worked over each 4-week period, full-time + paid overtime/lieu

Salary per annum £27,956.83 ( pay award pending )

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Visitor Services team working with our conferencing and private events programmes and duty event managing our artistic events programme.

Your role will include managing a variety of events in the vibrant and historic Brighton Dome Concert Hall and across the city and beyond during the Brighton Festival in May. It is a particularly exciting time to join us as we have recently reopened our Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre spaces following redevelopment and we are developing our conferencing and private event offering which you will be an integral part of.

Your days will be split between advancing and coordinating our conferences and private events stream, as well as working closely with our production team to lead the Visitor Services elements of running community events and open days and Duty Managing our programmed public events.

As an Event Manager you will have overall responsibility for the smooth running of events and leading the stewards, volunteers and security staff while they are on shift. Our programmed public events include standing rock & pop, contemporary dance, comedy, classical music, family events and much more. You will provide the all-important first impression at events, leading the team and ensuring the health, safety and enjoyment of all attending. You will provide exceptional customer service and be a passionate advocate of diversity and inclusivity ensuring that all our events and venues are welcoming and accessible.

Advancing the conference and private events programme and community events will give you an opportunity to use your production skills and technical knowledge to organise exceptional events from contract stage through to the event itself. You will create events plans, risk assessments and plan staffing, catering and technical equipment.

You will have excellent organisational skills and be proficient in Office 365 and able to learn other IT systems quickly and effectively. Event Managers need to be calm and cool headed under pressure, adapt their approach to a variety of different people and circumstances and motivate a team and colleagues to produce exceptional events. Experience gained front of house in an arts, events, entertainment or conferencing setting is essential.
