Background

The Property & Facilities Department (PaF) is responsible for providing a safe and efficient working environment for University staff, students and visitors. PaF manages both Hard and Soft Facilities services, sustainability, timetabling and the strategic development of the estate, contributing to the delivery of City University London’s strategic and operational objectives.

Visible leadership is of paramount importance in this role, supporting and managing the Facilities Management team to drive continuous improvement and exceptional levels of service.

Responsibilities

You will play a key role in managing a range of in-house and outsourced services including Portering, Environmental Services (Cleaning, Waste Management, and Window Cleaning), Pest Control, Catering, Customer Service (Reception), Grounds Maintenance and Service Desk.

The post holder is responsible for day-to-day operations and contract management, and line management of a team of Assistant Facilities Managers.

You will ensure compliance with all Health and Safety Legislation relating to areas of operation reporting to the post. Conduct risk assessments and spot checks of PaF contractors and staff to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and the University’s own policies.

The post holder will be required to act as On-Call Duty Manager on a rotational basis and will also be expected to deputise for the Head of Facilities Management in their absence for all non-security related Soft FM Services, ensuring that they are efficient, effective, of high quality, and value for money.

Person Specification

The post holder will have proven experience of facilities management with senior managerial duties and experience of delivering a first class facilities service in a complex customer focussed environment.

You will also have technical knowledge of Contract Management, experience in managing multiple large service contracts, and experience of managing large scale budgets.
