Family Mediator Solicitor - 2 Years+ PQE - Newcastle

A large Law Firm with a long-standing reputation for quality within the legal services market, together with top-tier classification in both the Chambers UK Directory and the Legal 500 Directory is seeking an experienced Family Law Mediator (FMCA) to join their dynamic and versatile team in Newcastle/Greater Newcastle area. There is definite career progression for the right candidate.

The role will primarily involve privately paid mediation in divorce and financial matters for both married and unmarried families and children/co-parenting issues. In addition the successful candidate will provide legal advice and representation for family clients where required and when there is have capacity in the workload. The team consists of solicitors, mediators, arbitrators and collaborative lawyers. Each solicitor within the team has a dedicated mentor as well as secretarial and paralegal support.

This is a highly sociable law firm and staff enjoy paid for social activities, parties, and weekends away. This is a full-time position but part-time hours can also be considered. PQE is a guide only and those with more or less experience can also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* To undertake mediation work for clients regarding divorce and finances for both married and unmarried families and private children matters.
* To undertake legal work in support of mediation or generally for family clients
* To uphold exceptional standards of quality and client care
* Advise, assist and represent clients, maintaining an exceptionally high standard of client care at all times
* Balance the demands of the clients/caseload and non-casework responsibilities, ensuring all deadlines are met
* Promote and adhere to all file and case management policies and procedures
* To carry out and take responsibility for more complex or high value work
* Meet annual billing and performance targets
* Accurately record all time, chargeable and non-chargeable
* Ensure that the billing of files is carried out efficiently and at the earliest opportunity
* Work as a team player with other fee earners and support staff
* To delegate to, assist, and work appropriately and considerately with other fee earners and support staff
* To attend and participate in any meetings of the department or the firm when required
* Maintain knowledge and skills in relevant practice area(s) keeping up to date with relevant legislation and case law
* Ensure continuing competence through identifying and addressing any learning needs
* To participate in and engage with supervision in respect of your caseload
* Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of IT systems with a proactive and supportive approach to the introduction of new systems
* To achieve and maintain any relevant accreditations, Law Society panel membership and other appropriate membership
* To contribute to marketing/business development for the firm including identifying and facilitating internal cross selling opportunities and carrying out business development activities - e.g. networking, blog writing.
