Job Description

Job Purpose:

To ensure the smooth operation of the daily collection and delivery of raw milk from contracted farms and to do so in a way that ensures maximum efficiency.

It is an essential requirement that the applicant has planning / routing experience in a similar role and has excellent IT and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work under pressure in a demanding work environment.

 

Job Responsibilities/ Main Duties:

  • Plan and execute a driver rota system that provides the required level of resource
  • Route the milk collections into the most efficient routes whilst working within the constraints given by the customer
  • Respond to the daily changes inherent with milk collection volumes
  • Ensure that drivers adhere to all relevant procedures with regards to carrying out their duties
  • Manage milk volumes for transhipment and onward movement, liaising with the SJ Bargh reload operation to ensure all reloaded trailers are communicated in a timely manner
  • Make suitable records where necessary of collections and deliveries
  • Monitor the performance of drivers to within the company’s expectations
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out within the relevant timescales that ensure adherence to customer standards. This may include such activities as tanker swabbing, operating the companies CIP system, managing the cool chain of milk samples on site and checking that tanker are correctly sealed
  • Liaise with customers on a daily basis, representing the company in a professional manner at all times

 

Key Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Previous experience planning/ routing in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Cumbria and Lancashire area an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • To be able to work as a team and proactively with required departments within the business
