Job Description
Opportunity to join a successful supplier of ladieswear, menswear and childrenswear multiproduct categories who supply to major retailers. This is a role for an experienced Design & Product Development Manager who can lead and inspire a team whilst also being hands on with product, customers and support driving the business forward.
A commercial supplier background is required along with excellent management skills. You should have a strong commercial eye, excellent communication skills, working closely with the Design Director, and reporting to the MD, you should also be confident presenting to Buyers and Directors at all levels.
Based in our London office onsite 5 days per week, you will have a sound technical understanding of garment construction, graphic and print design, be ahead of the latest trends and experience working with China & Bangladesh.
Must be eligible to work in the UK.
The Role:
- Oversee a team of Designers between UK and HK offices.
- Direct and manage all aspects of design and product development, from conception through to gold seal, with proven ability to create bestselling, commercial ranges and be hands on with trends, giving direction and guidance to the Design team in London office and working alongside the Design team in HK office.
- Collaborate with cross functional leadership partners, across Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, and Finance, implementing direction and innovation for the season across shape, print, fabric and trim with management to budget.
- Involvement with key customer meetings on a regular basis.
- Competitor shopping research trips and client meetings when required.
- Assist with driving and increasing sales with new and existing customers.
The Candidate:
- Experience within ladieswear, menswear and / or childrenswear is essential.
- Experience in fast-paced supplier environment.
- Excellent understanding of garment costing and construction.
- Demonstrate longevity in your design career.
- Proven success of leading a team.
- Excellent communication at all levels along with, time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to present and work alongside key management in the business.
