Job Description

Finance & Actuarial Business Analyst

To drive efficiency and improve business processes, leading to the overall growth and success of the organisation. Business Analyst is responsible for understanding and assessing the changing needs of the business. They play a key role in ensuring projects and initiatives meet their goals and objectives by bridging the gap between stakeholders and the teams responsible for developing new systems or processes.

The Business Analyst will work with a Finance Change team including a Delivery & Release Manager, Senior Data Analysts, and senior finance and actuarial subject matter experts to take responsibility for pulling together Idea Initiation Documents, the business requirements, analysing processes and data flows. They will additionally be required to assist the team across other work packages as required.

About The Job

While there is rarely a typical day, here's a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:

  • Elicit, analyse, and validate the needs of business stakeholders, customers or end users
  • Gather Idea Initiation Documents and document business requirements (both functional and non-functional) to ensure that the full business and IT impact has been thought through
  • Ability to formulate as is and to be process maps utilising specific tools designed for that capability
  • Design and optimise business processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs where aligned to small change portfolio for delivery
  • Examine complex data to draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations
  • Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them by understanding business and functional requirements
  • Identify and evaluate possible options to meet user requirements, think about what the impact will be and present findings to stakeholders to support decision making
  • Elicit and document user acceptance testing, and validation processes to ensure the solution meets the requirements
  • Act as a key point of contact between business stakeholders, Architecture, Data and IT teams, and other relevant parties
  • Update process and procedure documentation in line with changes implemented
  • Analyse processes and data flows through effective engagement with the business, Architecture, Data and IT.
  • Help bridge the gap between business needs and technical and/or system solutions, ensuring optimal and efficient operation of businesses

What you'll need:

For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include:
  • Insurance business analysis experience
  • Experience of working with London Market (Lloyd's)
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) is a plus
  • Understanding of project management principles and methodologies
  • Experience of working with outsourcing and /or external third-party suppliers/partners
  • Experience of working across Finance, Actuarial, System and Data functions.
