Role: Finance Analyst - Trade

Location: Head Office, Leicester

Salary: £45,000 - £53,000 plus bonus & benefits

At NEXT, not only are we one of the UK’s largest fashion retailers, but we’re also one of the largest listed companies.We have an exciting opportunity as a Trade Finance Analyst to join our Trade Finance Team which is part of the Commercial Finance function. Next generates sales of over £5bn per annum and the Trade team is responsible for the provision of all sales reporting and analysis relating to these sales

Based at our Head Office in Leicester the role of Trade Finance Analyst will work closely with the Trade Finance Manager and be involved in the reporting of sales by all of our many different revenue streams as well as the regular analysis of sales performance across the wider industry. This could include the regular daily or weekly reporting, information for our external city communications or ad hoc requests for insight.

Specifically you will act as a business partner to the Commercial Finance teams, helping to understand and scope out data/information needs and then work with the other members of the Trade Team to develop robust and reliable information to service those needs. You will also act as a conduit between Finance and the Trade Team. You will deputise and work closely with the Trade Finance Manager, attending key meetings with senior management and help to meet deadlines around external and internal communications as well as supporting with ad hoc analysis and requests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Utilise software to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from various sources.
    • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track progress, identify bottlenecks, and measure key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Interpret data to uncover insights and trends, providing actionable
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, including executives, project teams, and external partners.

So what are we looking for?

  • An experienced, driven analyst with an inquisitive mind and excellent analytical and reporting skills (ideally part of fully qualified but not essential dependent on experience).
  • Experience of working in a Finance team
  • Stakeholder management experience with demonstrable influencing and negotiation skills
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and manage simultaneous priorities
  • IT literate with advanced Excel and reporting skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret large volumes of data efficiently and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to prioritise workloads to ensure key tasks are achieved to the highest standards.
  • A can-do attitude, who will be flexible to the changing needs of the business and works well under pressure.
