Vacancy Details

Duration: Permanent

Location: This role is based in Manchester Square One. This role is a full-time opportunity including 3 days per week office based, flexible working patterns will be considered.

Band & Salary: Band 4C - Salary £43,588 to £49,036 (Subject to experience)

About the role (External)

About the team..

This role sits within the Business Partnering section of Accounting Services. The overall role of the department is to deliver bulk transactional activities on behalf of the whole Business and continually search for areas for potential improvement both within and outside of the department. This always will be done by working collaboratively with Finance teams and others, across Network Rail.

Who are we looking for?

We're on the hunt for a Finance Business Partner to join our team in Manchester. As a key player, you'll work closely with our Finance Teams in our UK wide Business.

Your mission? To provide support our Finance Teams and their Business Partners to ensure we support & challenge the Business in delivering streamlined processes that add value and free up key Finance personnel to make a difference.

What does the average day look like?

Every day as a Finance Business Partner is different, filled with diverse responsibilities, including:

Financial Guidance: Help our Finance Business Partners navigate our Finance regulations and procedures with timely input and advice and act as link between our Finance Systems and Process team.

Corporate Governance Champion : Safeguard our business by maintaining corporate governance standards across the routes, regions & functions. Dive deep into compliance with financial regulations to keep us on the right side of the law.

Insightful Reporting : Work closely with the Business to identify those reporting requirements that may be best provided from a central team to improve quality, consistency and time efficiencies.

Influential Collaborator: Timely and focussed engagement with the processing and reporting teams in Accounting Services to deliver quick solutions to any issues that may block Regional and Group Finance teams from operating effectively. Be the single point of contact between Regional Finance and Accounting Services enabling speedy and efficient resolution of problems and questions.

Essential Criteria

• Demonstrate strong understanding of business needs and relevant application of accounting standards

• Membership (Or working towards a membership) of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA) or equivalent experience

• Knowledge of creating and maintaining accounts and annual budget

• Significant experience within relevant finance disciplines

• Strong excel skills and use of data manipulation

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to interpret technical accounting regulations into everyday language

• Demonstrable effective influencing skills at a senior level

• Significant understanding of financial control and risk

• Excellent technical finance and accounting knowledge
