This is a key role within the London Estate & Operations finance team. The London Estate is a c. £5bn property portfolio, with residential, retail, office and hotel assets located in Mayfair and Belgravia. The role is responsible for producing high quality management and financial information on the performance of the London Estate and Operations to provide the senior leadership and Executive teams with the insight and understanding to inform decision making and enhance business performance.

With great access to a variety of individuals in the business, this role offers the opportunity to influence business outcomes through accurate and relevant analysis of past and future performance including preparation of forecasts, budgets, district strategies and strategic plan. The timely identification, interpretation and communication of key themes and drivers of business performance will be a critical success factor.

The role plays a key part in understanding both the short and long-term drivers of growth and profitability for the London Estate and Operations businesses whose objectives are to increase sustainability and recurring income targets. The candidate should be a confident communicator, able to skilfully summarise complex issues and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective partnering with the London Estate and Operations business teams, being a critical and highly valued friend, helping them to understand and enhance their performance.

  • Provide deep insight into the drivers of business performance as well as the risks and opportunities that might impact performance and providing analysis that informs decision making and drives value.

  • Collate quarterly forecast, budget submissions, and communicate comparisons to actual performance. Ensure business stakeholders understand and take responsibility for their numbers in order to facilitate high quality discussions, at team and executive level.

  • Assist in the modelling of long-term district strategies focussing on the impact of internal and external risks and opportunities and the anticipated outcomes for individual locations as well as the impact on a comprehensive strategic plan.

  • Responsible for provision of information to the Central Reporting, Tax, Legal, Sustainability & Innovation and Treasury teams as and when required.

  • Monitor and control key data for projects and ensure it is accurate. Ensure consistency of data across various business systems.

  • Maintain documentation on agreed processes and actively identify and implement ways to improve processes, particularly in line with Grosvenor Property UK environmental and sustainability goals.

To achieve this it will be necessary to:

  • Work closely with the location teams to identify areas where additional customer insight would be beneficial.

  • Challenge performance where it falls short of expected standards and highlight areas of outperformance that can be replicated elsewhere.

  • Work closely with the Management Accountants to share insights between forecast and actual performance.

  • Identify, quantify and report risks and opportunities against financial goals.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or overseas equivalent)

  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and accounting skills and be able to make sense of large datasets

  • Highly diligent with a strong attention to detail, but able to step back and see the bigger picture

  • Skilful manager of stakeholder relationships, able to build and maintain strong networks, whilst willing to apply challenge where appropriate

  • Sustainability - implement more sustainable ways of working and encourage others to improve sustainability performance

  • Genuine interest in property and specifically Grosvenor’s London portfolio (previous experience in a property business would be useful, but not essential)
