Finance Business Partner

Full-time (Office based), Norwich

At Aquaterra Energy we specialise in providing engineering solutions and equipment to the global offshore energy industry - helping clients drive efficient and sustainable offshore operations from drilling and field development, to decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, renewable, and hydrogen projects.
We are seeking an qualified experienced Finance Business Partner to join our expanding Finance team. This role is crucial and involves working closely with a cross-functional team that includes engineering, financial, and commercial disciplines. The ideal candidate must be a team player, capable of working under strict deadlines, and adept at identifying and implementing process changes. Experience in regular reforecasting and flash reporting is essential. Additionally, the candidate should be highly organized and possess a strong knowledge and understanding of project accounting.
About the role:

  • Hands-on role delivering effective commercial contract support covering cost engineering and project accounting
  • IR35 Review for all Contractors and management of IR35 process, records and ESIP assessment tool.
  • Liaison with recruitment agencies regarding contractor payments.
  • Provide effective link between day-to day project requirements and reporting and delivery of financial information in line with financial treatment for long-term contract accounting.
  • Provision of Project Budgets and Forecasts including cost of outturn.
  • Support commercial review of contractual conditions (both client and supplier), negotiation and operation of same
  • Prepare back up data for contract variations, including Cost Time Resource sheets, gathering of cost data.
  • Create cost and profit reports for main EPC contracts and sub contracts including revenue recognition
  • Ensuring honest and open reporting of all contract/claim/financial related matters to the correct management in reasonable time
  • Management of a variety of construction/engineering contracts with the ability to recognise, reduce and control commercial risks in projects
  • Lead internal cost reviews
  • Provide financial support to the development of Price and Costs models for new bids and opportunities
  • Where applicable, assisting the Line Manager or being delegated responsibility for various management tasks (project close outs/audits )
  • Look to improve company process to make more efficient and accurate
About you:
  • Accounting qualification preferably CIMA (ACMA)
  • Oil & Gas or Engineering experience
  • Experience of working in industry
  • Cost Engineering
  • Project accounting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - experience using Pivot tables, macros, manipulation of large blocks of data.
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Familiar with Access or other project/accounting software
  • Flexible approach to working hours to achieve critical deadlines
  • Clear communicator and good team player
