About the job : This role has the focus of DfT reporting and leading the management accountants.To lead the Management Accounting team to produce the financial reporting GWR board, Rail Division and the DfT/GBR. This includes but is not limited to Periodic reporting.Your main responsibilities will be: Setting the Highest Standards The consolidation of timely and accurate financial reports on a periodic basis.Co-ordination and management of periodic, quarterly, and annual reports to DfT, Rail Division and Group where appropriate.Working with the Head of Financial Reporting to develop the company financial reporting to meet business needs and minimise manual processes.Providing the relevant management information to Finance, Senior Management in GWR, First Group and DfT. Accountable for Performance Lead the team to ensure a quality service is delivered to internal and external customers.Ensure clear and consistent assumptions are used in the production of all finance reporting. Supporting Each Other Lead and manage a team of professional accountants.Ensure team and individual objectives are clear and development plans are in place.Support and work closely with the entire finance team.Ensure a close working relationship with Rail Division to ensure all reporting deadlines are met and reports submitted.Provide cover within Finance during holiday periods.Ensure all roles are crossed trained and there is adequate cover to reduce risk of key person dependency.Ensure all tasks within the team are documented. You'll need to be: Qualified Accountant 2 years PQE experience working in a large complex finance teamKnowledge and understanding of accounting principlesAn excellent team playerEvidence of being able to motivate and lead a team by As a minimum, you will need to have: Leadership and team management skills.Effective communication with finance and non-financial colleagues.Ability to write quality narrative on variances, actuals, budgets and forecasts.Professional behaviours, ethics and values About the location:The role is based in Milford House Swindon with some flexibility to work from home depending on business requirements.
