What does a great Finance Manager – Finance Business Partnering in Commercial FP&A do?

This is a key finance role supporting the Commercial business and is responsible for supporting several areas of the Commercial team in the management of their organisation. This role also helps drive the provision of finance partnering and support to the Agency teams, the Commercial Operations function as well as executing Travelport’s M&A strategy. It is a changing commercial landscape with many variables – so lots to get involved with!

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the Finance Business Partner to the GVP of Sales for Operators and the Global Business Development lead. Providing key finance support through budgeting, forecasts, and commercial business review processes.
  • Acting as the FP&A lead to understand the air distribution strategy and incorporating the impact into the Agency Sales budgets and forecasts.
  • Collaborating with Net Margin, PSR, and OPEX centre of excellence teams ensuring the provision of coordinated, robust, valuable, and insightful financial analysis to Commercial functions.
  • Support the agency planning cycles including budgeting, quarterly and rolling forecasts and 5-year planning.
  • Responsible for supporting the GVP of Sales for Operators and the Global Business Development lead in the management of their organisations. Includes analysis and forecasting of operating expenses and working with them to establish and implement changes to ensure that their OPEX budgets or targets are met. This involves working closely with HR representatives to implement headcount related actions.
  • Delivering change and efficiency programs within the Agency Sales organisation – ensuring (through close partnership with both the Agency Sales and Finance) that Finance can plan and implement system and process changes to support key new commercial models and initiatives.
  • Being an enabler (through commercial insight and leadership) of Agency Sales and finance operating model changes
  • Essential elements of the role include the ability to bring a diverse number of stakeholders together to achieve the objectives of both this channel and the wider Travelport organisation.
  • Support Strategic Projects on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Support the Commercial Sales-to-Segments (Attainment) process through delivering a detailed Budget plan based on sales activity and performance. Support the Commercial team in an advisory role to ensure measurement model incorporates ownership and delivers sound financial performance data.
  • Partner with subject matter experts across Technology, Travel Partners, and Operators to support, and later own, M&A transactions primarily in the Product and Operators space.
  • Develop and expand on M&A best practices, processes, and models; becoming an SME in the M&A space to drive a proactive acquisition strategy.

  • Strong strategic finance and analytical skills, preferably with FP&A experience.
  • Able to effectively communicate complex issues to key stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to tailor their approach to deal with different people.
  • Fully Qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA).
