The Opportunity

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Land Recovery team, a business acquired by AIUK as part of our wider circular economy strategy in June 2024.

Based in our head office at Chemical Lane, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, the Finance Manager reports directly to the MD and will manage a small finance team. You'll be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance within our finance department.

This role involves working alongside senior management to drive the financial performance of our Land Recovery business. You will leverage your expertise to enhance financial decision-making and support strategic initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to drive the company's growth and profitability.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and financial statements to senior management and the Holcim Group.
  • Analyse financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and efficiency.
  • Manage cash flow and cashflow forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity and optimal allocation of resources (working alongside the Group Treasury function).
  • Oversee the preparation of tax returns, regulatory filings, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations (with support from Group Tax & Compliance).
  • Liaise with internal auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a strong controls environment.
  • Develop and implement credit control policies and procedures to optimize cash flow and minimize bad debt risk.
  • Analyse aged debtors reports and implement strategies to reduce debtor days and improve cash collection efficiency.

Who You Are

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with solid post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in finance management, ideally within a similar small to medium-sized company or relevant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, taxation, and regulatory compliance in the UK.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a finance team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills preferred.

Benefits

  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays and other benefits - all recognising the contribution you bring.
  • Significant opportunities for personal and professional development within the UK and internationally.
  • A dynamic workplace focused on sustainability and innovation in the construction industry.
  • A supportive and inclusive team environment, enhancing your career journey.

We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
