Job Description

Working within the UK Shared Service Centre supporting customers in John Crane and The Smiths Group by managing and providing back-office accounting services. The role is to undertake Cash Management, Fixed Asset Accounting, support Overseas (France & Belgium) Indirect Taxation and the associated month-end processes, controls, and daily tasks for all entities. Responsibilities also include supporting the Bank Rec, Balance Sheet review process, Interco Rec for John Crane France, John Crane Belgium and TISA

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include but not limited:
• Maintenance, accounting and reporting of cash and banking activities including forecasting
• Prepayment and accruals for the Shared Service Centre entities.
• Preparation of the applicable monthly balance sheet reconciliations and Bank Reconciliation.
• Support the Accounting Managers with analysis, open item management and documenting processes.
• Knowledge of Hedging
• Support to the reporting and filing of returns for Indirect Tax, VAT and Intrastat declarations
• Ensuring strict compliance with financial & business controls required by the Division/Group and external auditors.
• Support to Internal and External audits
• Support to Shared Service Team as required

The Individual

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Qualified (CAB) Accountant or Qualified by Experience
• Good communication skills – written and spoken in English
• Good influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills
• A self-starter with an ability to think logically
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Focused on continuous improvement
• SSC experience with multi-entity management
• Basic knowledge of French GAAP and taxes an advantage.
• Project Management experience.


Technical
• Good numeric background. – Essential
• Good Microsoft Office especially in Excel (Lookup, Pivots, etc.) – Essential
• Knowledge of SAP ECC6 to a good standard


Planning and Decision Making:
• The ability to work on own and as part of the team to meet tight deadlines
• A good team player with a flexible approach and the ability to work on own initiative and in teams is essential.
• Pro-active and ability to work on own initiative
