Join us as a Fire Safety Manager at Torus Group! This is a permanent role based in Warrington with occasional travel to other locations.As a Fire Safety Manager, you will lead efforts to ensure safety and compliance across our properties. You'll oversee a dedicated team, working closely with tenants, contractors, and Torus staff to deliver top-tier fire safety services. Your role involves strategic leadership, managing fire safety requirements, and developing comprehensive plans. With a strong focus on compliance and technical expertise, you'll lead audits, maintenance programs, and project oversight.If you're ready to drive safety excellence and influence stakeholders, join us and make a lasting impact as our Fire Safety Manager.Responsibilities: Act as the Groups key point of contact for all internal and external fire safety related issues and enquires in conjunction with the Building Safety Manager, develop the Groups fire policy and management plan.Review policies and procedures relating to all aspects of fire safety work undertaken and ensure legal requirements and best practice is observed.Ensure the fire policy and management plan meet all statutory and regulatory requirements.Ensure the fire policy and procedures are always adhered to.Investigate fires and fire alarm activations, establishing the causes and making recommendations to mitigate against future occurrence.Provide specialist technical advice to inform the compilation of personal emergency egress plans where required, such as determining building features and engineering services that support such plans.Collate information and statistics to identify trends in fire safety provision, incidents and causes of alarm activations. Compilation of associated reportsEnsure all fire risk assessments and action plans are kept up to date and work completed on time.Ensure all fire safety inspection programmes are delivered on time and to budget.Monitor contractor and consultant policies for compliance with fire safety regulations.Establish and carry out a comprehensive monitoring and auditing programme to ensure compliance with the Groups policies and procedures.Monitor the compliance of the Group’s fire contractors in conjunction with current legislation, guidance, best practice, policies, and procedures.Raise awareness of fire safety related issues across the GroupEngaging with internal and external customers using a variety of communication methodsPrepare fire safety literature/articles for circulation.Reviewing building designs, fire strategy, on site assessments of new build and refurbishment worksOversee the maintenance and management of cloud-based portals.Production and maintenance of KPI’s, statistics and relevant benchmarking dataProduction of performance reports to the Board, Executive Management Team and others as required.Identify training requirements in conjunction with the Learning and Development Team and Head of Building Safety.Develop and implement a fire safety training programme and ensure refresher and professional training for key staff in line with good practice recommendations and maintain accurate records in the training register.Ensure relevant staff are kept updated on changes to legislation and regulations.In collaboration with the Head of Building Safety and in preparation for the Building Safety Bill, develop a suitable system to manage the ‘golden thread’ of data.In collaboration with the Building Safety Manager support the delivery of the Building Safety Strategy and the Residents’ Engagement Strategy.Skills & Experience: HNC/D in a Building related subject or qualified by experience.Level 4 Diploma in fire safety or equivalent qualification/experienceGCSE or equivalent standard in Maths and EnglishMinimum 2 years’ experience of managing Fire Safety and compliance at a senior level.Experience within a social housing environment, desirable for that to be within a compliance related field.Experience of fire safety enforcement procedures and auditsSound understanding of fire safety legislation, associated technical standards and codes of practice and applied management of fire safety.Broad knowledge and understanding of Approved Documents to the Building Regulations, and a wealth of British and European Standards applicable to fire safety protection measures.Good understanding of semi-engineered fire protection solutions (BS 9999)Good understanding of passive and active fire protection measures and their associated design, installation, and maintenance requirementsAwareness of fire safety engineering principles and their applicationConsiderable experience of fire risk assessment in a variety of large and complex premises accommodating a range of risk scenariosConversant with PAS 79 methodologyExperience of fire safety enforcement procedures and audits.What we offer: Generous Annual Leave: Start with 25 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after five years of dedicated service.Family Support: Enjoy enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay, ensuring you can focus on what matters most during significant life events.Financial Flexibility: Take advantage of our holiday purchase scheme, Aviva pension plan, and Salary Finance for affordable loans.
