Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Food and Health & Safety professional to join our team. The Food, Health and Safety Compliance Manager will ensure that Food, Health and Safety and Security procedures are implemented, monitored and maintained working and communicating with all stakeholders and unit management teams to continuously improve standards. The role requires the ability to travel significantly to meet business requirements within the UK&I

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Working with airlines customer stakeholders to manage the successful start up of new catering operation - close collaboration on opening of properties (food safety, health and safety, ramp safety) and successful implementation of aircraft catering operation.

Development and implementation of safety compliance standards to ensure a minimum of legal compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

Implementing and maintaining microbiological sampling programs.

Auditing all areas of operations including aviation and rail.

Ensure that employees and managers are fully trained / coached and developed where required.

Conduct investigations and ensure that necessary actions are taken and communicated, including customer complaints, accidents, risk assessments, insurance claims etc. Accident analysis and trending to identify root cause with recommendations for mitigating actions.

Analysing results of audits / complaints and highlighting trends to identify problem areas to enable informed and effective decision making.

Internal Communications: Communicating to, supporting and advising all levels of the business. Ensuring that the dissemination of information is appropriate, factual and timely to support a positive and active decision-making process.

External Communications: Liaising with legal departments, legislative authorities, third parties and customers.

Overseeing and supporting the business with new initiatives / projects to completion.

Managing food information systems.

Producing and providing reports to Corporate, UK & Ireland & Unit Management.

Supporting unit activities and facilitating a best practice approach to problem solving and improvement initiatives.

Support and technical input for customer tenders and visits.

Significant travel within the UKI for the first 6 months but then focusing on the Midlands / south of the UK

Qualifications

Work Experience and Technical Skills

Demonstrable management experience, within the aviation industry.

Project Management experience.

Health & Safety Management Certificate (NEBOSH or Equivalent) preferred.

Good understanding of Food / Health and Safety legislation / HACCP and how they are enforced.

Preferable experience in security management systems.

An understanding of safety management systems.

An experienced auditor within this remit, ideally with related qualification (ISO/BSC).

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.

Experience and ability in compiling and presenting management reports.

Flexible can-do approach to completing projects / work activities.

Ability to manage workload effectively, be organised with attention to detail and meet deadlines.

The ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.

Language / Communication Skills

English language is essential.

Other languages advantageous.

Confident, clear communication.

Job Dimensions

Geographic Responsibility: Based in the Midlands area with significant travel within the UKI for the first 6 months but then focusing on the Midlands / south of the UK

All successful candidates must have the right to work in the UK, undertake a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and provide 5 years referencing history.
