Job Description

Job Title: Forensic Toxicologist

Location: Greater Manchester

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £28,000 - £36,000

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological samples for drugs of abuse using LC-MS/MS.

Develop, validate, and maintain LC-MS/MS methods for toxicological testing.

Interpret and report analytical results in accordance with laboratory protocols and legal standards.

Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS instrumentation.

Ensure compliance with quality control procedures and accreditation standards.

Provide expert testimony in court as required.

Collaborate with other forensic scientists and law enforcement agencies.

Stay current with advancements in forensic toxicology and LC-MS/MS technology.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, or a related field.

Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LC-MS/MS instrumentation.

Strong understanding of analytical techniques and methodologies related to drugs of abuse.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly and concisely.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience providing expert testimony is a plus.

Knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and quality assurance protocols.
