Job Overview:

As a Fraud & Financial Crime (F&FC) Data Analyst you will form a key part of our approach to the identification of suspicious activity across our platform.

This role combines proactive analysis of payment/transaction patterns and trends, influencing the creation and tuning of transaction monitoring rules and controls, alongside producing varied MI reporting. It can be based in/around our Skipton or London locations.

You will play a crucial role in identifying, analysing, and mitigating financial crime risks, including fraud, money laundering, and other illicit activities. This role involves working with large datasets, developing dashboards, MI and providing actionable insights to support the organisation's efforts in combating financial crime.

Our team will be instrumental in guiding and educating internal stakeholders on best practice, embedding a data driven approach to transaction monitoring, and ensuring that our systems and processes are optimised to support business expansion.

Your Role:

  • Creation of KPI reporting dashboards and production of MI, to monitor financial crime trends and patterns
  • Collect, process and analyse large volumes of data
  • Conduct pattern and trend analysis, uncovering hidden patterns and anomalies that inform the design of rules and controls
  • Trend analysis across multiple financial crime typologies (Fraud, Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing).
  • Creation & maintenance of bespoke financial crime reporting, outlining key client activity and risks to support wider business conversations
  • Provide direct input into the creation and tuning of rule sets and controls after analysing datasets
  • Regular presentation of analysis to the Financial Crime management team
  • SME input for planned system upgrades/enhancements
  • Provision of statistical data for regulatory reporting
  • Forming of peer-to-peer relationships with key vendors
  • Stay updated on the latest financial crime trends, regulatory changes, and best practices

We'd Love to See:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a financial crime role that has included data analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial crime risks and typologies in a payments/banking environment
  • Demonstrable understanding of industry recognised transaction monitoring systems in a payments/banking environment, such as ARIC by Featurespace, Falcon, Actimize etc
  • Fluency in SQL and other widely used programming language such as Java, Python
  • Experience with DBT or a solid foundation in SQL data modelling
  • Proficient in conducting data analysis by using data analysis tools
  • Proficient in using Tableau or other data visualisation tools
  • Experience in producing MI, such as via KPI dashboarding
  • Familiarity of rule coding and implementation in a transaction monitoring environment
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and statistical modelling
  • Presentation of statistical data to influence leadership decisions
