Role: Fundraising Manager

Contract Permanent – 37 hours per week

Salary £32,913-£37,532

Location West Kent Mind is based at Sevenoaks Wellbeing Centre, 34 St John’s Road, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN13 3LW. This role allows for flexible working, including time spent working from home. We also like to spend time together as a team at our centre in Sevenoaks, so this isn’t a remote role.

About the role

You will lead on the implementation and development of fundraising within West Kent Mind, maximising income and growing a diverse funding base.

Who you are

  • You already excel in your field or chosen sector. You might not be a professional fundraiser, but you will have the will and the ‘know-how’ to demonstrate transferable skills in your application that relate to this role.
  • You know about fundraising and raising money.
  • You have excellent administrative skills and rigorous attention to detail.
  • You are bold and unafraid of talking and presenting to people, groups and businesses including face to face and online.

What you will offer us

  • You may or may not have done this before. You may already be at management level and know what it’s like to work in a small organisation and what it takes to develop and deliver impactful fundraising. If you’ve worked in a different sector, please tell us, we want to hear about your transferable skills.
  • You will be familiar with meeting financial fundraising targets and the thought of raising money for West Kent Mind will thrill you.
  • Your ‘happy place’ is networking with new and existing businesses, individuals and groups encouraging them to raise money for West Kent Mind.

Key responsibilities

  • As our Fundraising Manager your key role is to support the income growth of the organisation through implementing highly successful fundraising initiatives.
  • Lead on and own a fundraising plan that includes the delivery of existing fundraising activity and develop new initiatives based on insight and evidence.
  • Implement existing, and lead on the growth and development of new fundraising functions. These include fundraising events (e.g. London Summer Walk, London 10K, Mental Elf fun run) community fundraising initiatives (e.g. supporting community groups, clubs and schools to raise money for West Kent Mind), online giving (e.g. Big Give Christmas Challenge), and support Charity of the Year and other giving initiatives from businesses (e.g. through our Change Maker programme).
  • Ensure that genuine and heartfelt relationships are built and maintained with all our wonderful supporters and donors.

Our fundraising culture

We operate and encourage a fundraising culture, meaning we are all fundraising advocates and contribute to an organisational fundraising ethos. We expect everyone to play their part in generating income, this could be anything from being pro-active in working with colleagues to secure funding for your area of work, to writing a heartfelt thank you note to a donor or putting together a testimonial from a beneficiary to demonstrate funding impact for a grant application. Securing income is vital to our survival and we expect everyone to embrace our ethos.

It’s important to take time off. We give you 23 days a year, increasing by one day per year of service up to 30 days, plus bank holidays (all calculated pro-rata for part-timers).

To refresh and recuperate before the start of a new year, we also give you an extra three days holiday between Christmas and New Year.
