Role: Group General Counsel


Location: London


Hunter Savage is currently partnering with this leading global tech client to recruit a group general counsel to work for this leading global tech multi-national client to work in their UK head office based in London. This is an exciting role to work at board level and assist with the shaping of the overall strategy of the business and the legal function. Working closely with the senior company executive and board of Directors you will be required to;


Responsibilities:


  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the company's executives and board of directors.
  • Manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals to provide legal support to all departments within the company.
  • Advise on all legal matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and litigation.
  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including technology licensing agreements, strategic partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to minimize risk and maximize business opportunities.
  • Work closely with business teams to provide practical, strategic, and timely legal advice.
  • Collaborate with external counsel on complex legal matters and manage external legal spend.
  • Keep up to date on legal developments that may impact the company's operations and proactively advise the business on necessary changes.
  • Manage and oversee the company's intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Ensure that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and work closely with the company's compliance and ethics teams to manage risk.

Requirements:


  • Qualified Solicitor - England & Wales
  • 10+ years of relevant legal experience in a combination of law firm and in-house roles.
  • Significant experience advising technology companies on a broad range of legal matters, with a strong understanding of the unique legal challenges and opportunities facing the tech industry.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals, with a strong track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal clients.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities.
