About us: Nicholls Boreholes & Ground Source (www.nichollsboreholes.co.uk) is a multi-award winning business established in 2006, designing and installing industry leading water and renewable heat systems across the south of England. Starting life as a family-run specialist drilling company but over the last 18 years has successfully expanded the fields it operates in, providing drilling, water, heat, consultancy and licensing solutions for individuals, businesses and developers.
Nicholls has installed hundreds of Water Boreholes and Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) systems since 2006. Our in-house team of highly experienced technical designers, skilled drillers and professional installers with our state of the art equipment have completed over 1,400 projects with over 3,500 boreholes drilled to date for residential, commercial and agricultural projects. We also offer further support and maintenance from our experienced, qualified, professional Service Department.
Key Purpose of the Role: The Boreholes General Manager, is a new role, working with the MD/Founder and Technical Directors leading and managing the Project Management, Drilling, Installations, Service, logistic and admin teams ensuring the teams are organised and deliver against the agreed standards – quality, timelines and budget.
The successful candidate will have six direct reports and a total team of approximately thirty.
This will be a management and detail orientated role and a successful candidate will have a proven track record in project delivery, good planning, resource utilisation and meeting or exceeding expectations. A successful candidate will need to be able to balance the practicalities of managing several engineering and project teams, who will be managing, installing and servicing complex projects. Teams will be in the field, in the yard and in the office.
Good organisation, planning, record keeping and timely accurate communication is important whilst maintaining financial and project discipline to minimising resource down-time. This will involve working closely with the delivery teams and the enquiries team to manage the pipeline and scheduling of the drilling rigs and all the teams responsible for a projects successful delivery.
A successful candidate will be an experienced and highly organised leader with the skills to motivate, develop and manage teams, resources, deadlines, across multiple sites. Strong environmental and sustainable credentials are essential.
The role requires a motivated and proactive individual with an eye for detail who is able to manage their teams in a positive way dealing with demanding customer and supplier relationships. Good organisational and communication skills are essential and they must be able to multi task in a team based environment, whilst being able to make tough decisions.
