Job Description

As the Quality leader for our Plymouth manufacturing site, you will play a key role in ensuring product issues are promptly investigated and adequate corrective/preventive action implemented e.g. customer complaints, out of specification components, etc.

Along with ensuring CAPA systems are operating effectively, you will ensure the close out of corrective actions meets expected deadlines and provide strategic direction to all quality assurance and quality systems compliance activities for the site. This will include routinely providing guidance and leadership to Engineers, Inspectors and Technicians.

Your responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining the company's quality procedures, standards and specifications
  • Ensuring that manufacturing and production processes meet regulatory standards
  • Exploring ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency
  • Maintaining controls and documentation procedures
  • Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing reports
  • Providing suggestions for changes and improvements and responsible for the how when implementing
  • Drive a collaborative culture, both within the immediate team and with the wider Olympus network
  • Create, manage and work towards departmental budgets and
  • Effectively people manage direct reports on a number of employee relation topics including performance, training, recruitment, meetings, engagement and communication
  • Define, manage and work towards individual, departmental, team and site KPI’s
  • Minimum of a HND or equivalent in an appropriate scientific, engineering or relevant discipline/equivalent experience is essential
  • Proven experience in a Quality Systems, Assurance and/or Engineering role within a highly-regulated environment is essential
  • Certified Lead / Principal Auditor Experience in QA is desirable
  • Lead audit experience in regulatory body inspections is desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of formal Quality Systems e.g. ISO 9001 is essential
  • Proven track record in a supervisory/leadership role
  • The role requires you to be on your feet for extended periods of time during your general day to day activities which include walking between departments and sites. Travel will be required to visit subsidiary companies and suppliers. We operate a 24/5 shift pattern, so flexibility will be required from time-to-time.
