Job Description

Bartlett are looking for an ambitious and confident Graduate to join their Financial Institutions Insurance division. The Financial Institutions Insurance division is responsible for arranging insurance covering professional errors and omissions and the person liability of senior management (i.e. Professional Indemnity, Directors’ & Officers’, Crime and Cyber insurance) for companies operating in the Financial Services sector.

As one of the junior members of the team, you will support the Account Executives (AE) who advise our highly sophisticated and professional clients on their insurance arrangements. You will have an inquisitive and problem-solving mentality, a proactive attitude, and the skills to manage a wide variety of different tasks and responsibilities to deadlines.


You will be surrounded by, and learn from, a team of experienced finance, insurance and legal professionals and develop valuable skills, financial institution knowledge and insurance expertise. You will gain professional qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Insurance (“CII”) as a member of the “Bartlett Academy” training programme. The Financial Institutions Division

  • Our team is the largest and fastest growing insurance division within the Bartlett Group - the team has grown from 4 to 12 individuals and from 50 clients to 350 clients over the past c.5 years

Client Base:

  • Very professional and high calibre of client
  • Primarily investment managers, hedge funds, private equity houses, corporate financiers and stockbrokers managing assets (typically £1bn+) for global investors
  • 90% are based in London (principally Mayfair or in the city)
  • Our primary points of contacts are head of finance, head of legal or partners/directors (highly sophisticated and professional individuals)

Core responsibilities:

  • Support the AEs to manage client relationships and accounts whilst attending client meetings with the AE when required
  • Request and review underwriting information from clients, conducting detailed client due diligence/KYC (our core USP), whilst understanding their insurance requirements
  • Broking to the London/Lloyds FI insurance market to secure insurance terms for the client
  • Preparing policy documentation and information documents for the client and slips for the insurer, in consultation with the AEs
  • Ensure all client details are recorded accurately on internal systems
  • Respond to queries from both clients and insurers in a pro-active manner, whilst keeping AEs informed as appropriate (ensure a high standard of service is always provided)
  • Developing detailed technical knowledge of the financial institutions sector, financial lines insurance products and the insurance market
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with both team members and the insurance market


Person Specification - Essential Criteria:

  • A strong educational background including an expectation/achievement of a first-class or 2:1 degree, preferably in a relevant subject matter e.g. Finance, Maths, Economics or Law
  • Minimum of 3 months office and client facing experience (preferably professional clientele e.g. non-retail)
  • Reliable and trustworthy with a professional demeanour and attitude i.e. strong work ethic, presentable, approachable, engaging, a well-rounded personality and a “can-do” attitude
  • An eagerness to succeed, self-motivated and team-spirited
