The Production Engineer will work on a variety of projects within the Production Engineering Department and the opportunity will be given to interact between all departments within the facility – giving a broad appreciation of all aspects of the business.

The successful candidate will be someone who is actively interested in Engineering, specifically in the Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine sectors. The new member of the team will be inquisitive and have experience in a hands on environment. They will be able to explain how their engineering knowledge has been practically applied.

The job involves a range of responsibilities, which included:

  • Interpret complex customer drawings (including datum alignment Influence) in order to produce accurate work instructions.
  • Implement / develop best practice machining and gauging processes that meet the requirements of the drawing, specifications, and meet process quality, cost & lead time.
  • Provide technical support to the shop floor for new product introduction & existing processimprovements.
  • Create/update best practice CNC programs for all different types of machine tools (Grinding, EDM, Milling, Laser etc.)
  • Use lean tools and techniques to remove waste from the manufacturing system.
  • Create/update customer brochure / approval packages to include FAIRS’s, FPA’s, PPQ’s, PLQ’s, FPR’s, MCR’s, DAR’s etc.
  • Be effective in communicating with all of the workforce, the supplier and the customer. To bepersuasive, confident, factual and have the ability to make fact based decisions.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in relevant engineering discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience / qualification

  • Industry work experience which could be gained during education
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, conventional and special process machining concepts.
  • Strong proficiency in using various problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex engineering drawings and geometries Ability to lead change and champion ideas
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence others
  • Very keen interest in precision engineering and manufacturing Ability toprioritize multiple projects within challenging timeframes
  • Knowledge or experience of Lean manufacturing principles and how these can be applied to a workplace setting
