SMG believes that every sporting event, series or team has their own distinctive character and special story to tell and we take great pride in helping our clients communicate their respective stories to a global audience.

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Graphic Designer to work across our portfolio of sports clients beginning with - but not limited to - a focus on motorsport, predominantly F1.

The role is a perfect fit for an open-minded, proactive and collaborative individual who has the vision to build and expand their role according to their own ambition within a fast-growing agency. The role provides a perfect blend of experience across both established and emerging sports properties and a real opportunity for the right candidate to take part in 360-degree involvement across all creative, social, digital and activation projects.

You will be required to process and deliver on briefs from a variety of clients and be a key player in supporting the Digital & Brand Lead (and wider team) in driving new business opportunities through creative decks and concepts.

The role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to take the lead on ideating and creating best-in-class visual assets for some of the world’s best-known sporting events. Your output will primarily be social media-facing but will also include numerous opportunities in supporting SMG in further developing its own visual style across other visual and video assets.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support in communicating and advocating creative thinking across the business.
  • Collaborate with Digital & Brand Lead and other department heads to develop effective visual designs and creative projects including creating or presenting storyboards.
  • Keeping abreast of current sports marketing trends and developments and feeding back to the wider team.
  • Building and maintaining new relationships & maintaining a network of contacts for creative collaborations, ad hoc support & relevant future business opportunities.
  • Support in identifying and developing concepts for creative opportunities across other sporting properties beyond SMG’s current client base

Candidate Requirements Technical Skills

  • Essential - 2-3 years of creative experience in design either as an intern, freelancer or full-time position: experience in a sports setting, ideally in motorsport.
  • Essential - Proven portfolio of developing concepts into compelling visual design with projects including video editing
  • Essential - Experience working in a business with a strong digital presence
  • Essential - Demonstrable skill and experience across Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier etc)
  • Desirable - Demonstrable skill and experience in After Effects – there will be opportunities for us to provide you with the necessary time and funding for training and courses that develop and broaden your design skillset if this is required.
  • Desirable - Experience creating content alongside an established brand.

Character

  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to trends that influence design in sport.
  • Passionate about sport either as an observer, fan or participant.
  • Understanding and curiosity for the why as well as the how in content creation and design and their role in supporting the business side of global sports properties.

  • Fast and accurate application of skills and knowledge in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Practice superior time management skills.
  • Must be a team player with the confidence to take the lead when necessary.
