sia Abrasives Ltd (part of the Bosch Power Tools/Accessories Division) is an innovative manufacturer of non-woven and foam abrasive products as well as a distributer in the UK of coated abrasives. The sites in Greetland, West Yorkshire and Alfreton, Derbyshire, have a wealth of experience in the manufacture and development of abrasive products, ideally complementing sia Abrasives’ systems solutions.

Job Description

  • Development of new products to for the nonwoven abrasive market, including the new segment of robotic sanding applications
  • Contribute to plant improvement / cost saving projects.
  • Support on projects to key stakeholders within the business; Production / Customer services / Sales / HSE/ Logistics / Purchasing/ Quality support
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the members of the nonwoven abrasive product development team
  • Undertake all people management activities and communicate objectives, tasks and targets.
  • Assess departmental performance and training needs of self and others
  • Maintenance of technical skill profile to meet site and business needs.
  • Communicate Corporate information to team, as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree/masters level with chemical background, knowledge of the production of nonwovens and coating processes is an advantage
  • Proactive self-starter able to work under own direction and keen interest in personal development.
  • Hands on approach, enjoys working in a production environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills (cooperation across the hierarchies and on international environment).
  • Flexible, ability to support, positively influence and work with various departments and levels of management.
  • Analytic thinking and problem-solving skills, demonstrates attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Planning and project management skills including Agile working methods.
  • Ad hoc travel abroad (predominatnyl Europe) to visit customers, suppliers and the head quarter in Frauenfeld as required
