Who you'll be supporting & more about the role:

This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of charity financial reporting. This role produces and verifies that the Charity's Management Accounts are representative and accurately reported to provide leadership with the financial information and analysis needed to make informed decisions, optimize costs, and drive overall financial performance. The role collaborates with internal departments to gather financial data and support with implementing best practices to enhance financial controls.

Day to Day you'll be (list not exhaustive please see attached JD)
  • To manage the full month-end process by consolidating and reviewing the I&E reports to ensure they are an accurate reflection of activity using a blend of approaches which include a variance analysis against budget/forecast, trend data and/or contractual agreements. Posting various accruals and prepayment and correcting journals ready for review by the FBP ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger in line with organisational, regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Approve the Management Accountants review of the monthly Income and Expenditure Review ready for regional knowledge adjustments by the FBPS
  • Coordinate with the FBPs to facilitate(post) their general ledger journals the GL in Agresso.
  • In conjunction with the Income team, support with the accurate recording of income for Community Integrated Care contracts.
  • Production and distribution of the Income & Expenditure reports to Operational Leaders and provide support for financial queries, finance signposting, new admission costings, and resolutions.
  • Ensure that the charity has accurate and timely management information to inform decision making by producing KPI's and critical performance information for operations - ready for review/analysis and distribution by the FBPs.
  • Produce analysis reports which form part of the monthly Income &Expenditure reporting pack and work alongside the FBPs to develop any new reporting requests.
  • Coach and mentor Management Account Specialists, providing guidance and training.
  • To work with other Finance & Support Service departments such as payroll to continuously improve processes to improve controls and reduce the time spent before closing the accounts and report completion.
  • Act as first level of support for external auditors when there are requests relating to income and expenditure variances/trends and queries

Skills Knowledge and Experience
  • ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA Qualified or Finalist
  • Significant experience in Management Accounts, preferably within the charitable sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and principles.
  • Ability to analyse complex financial data, interpret trends, and draw meaningful conclusions to support decision-making.
  • Experience of providing accurate and meaningful summarised reports from mass data.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
