Job Description

Gleeson Logistics are exclusively partnering with a Multi-National Third Party Logistics provider in their search for a Group Procurement Manager.


The Procurement Manager is a key commercial management position. The Procurement Manager must represent procurement at both UK and European level, lead their team on a journey of continuous improvement, and build close partnerships across the organisation in order to achieve their business goals of improved commercial performance, complexity reduction and the introduction of lean and robust processes.


Primary Accountabilities and Deliverables:

  • Fully responsible for the UK Group procurement function across four Sites and a Purchasing Team of two
  • Delivery of the UK Group wide roadmap to reduce costs and consolidate Suppliers across an annual £10M+ spend within directs, in-directs and Capex including: Tendering, Contract negotiation, and the implementation of change (where required)
  • Supplier Consolidation Program
  • Process standardisation and simplification
  • Work with key supply partners to leverage service and working capital improvements e.g. VMI, Consignment Stock, etc
  • Engage with procurement colleagues at a European group level to delivery strategic partner opportunities and leverage commercial opportunities
  • Demonstrate leadership and build relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of strategies. Represent Procurement in cross functional meetings
  • Manage Supplier OTIF and troubleshoot associated service issues
  • Promote sustainability standards throughout the business and Supplier supply chains


Key Experience:

  • Experience of management within an FMCG environment, ideally warehousing and logistics
  • Must be able to demonstrate hands on experience with the end to end delivery of tendering projects within directs, in-directs, and Capex, including preparation of data packs, negotiation, Contracting, and implementation
  • Experience of business process design, improvement, and implementation ideally within a Continuous Improvement program
  • Previous experience of Supplier consolidation programs
