The Darlington Economic Campus is a pioneering new cross-government hub which will bring people together across departments and public organisations to play an active role in the most important issues of the day.

HM Treasury in Darlington will be joined by the Department for International Trade, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Office for National Statistics, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the Competition and Markets Authority, the Department for Education and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, passionate Head of Advanced Analytics to lead the newly formed branch to develop data science products and capabilities. This exciting role will get to shape not only how the branch delivers outcomes but also provides leadership on how the department exploits data science to provide world leading economic policy advice!

What you will bring to the team:

  • Provide operational leadership to the advanced analytics branch including management of data science methodologies, development strategies & product management. This role reports directly to the chief data officer (CDO).
  • Be responsible for the effective design of analytical models, ensuring model performance is measured and managed. Look to exploit new capability within the field of data science so that models are as valuable as possible.
  • Provide leadership and represent the data strategy values and ambitions across HM Treasury and with other government departments.
  • Develop and lead a data science community; ensuring engagement and support for all roles & disciplines across the department; design and embed a community led quality assurance / peer review approach analysis.
  • Design and embed an agile data-operations environment - including productization of data assets and ensuring business led products are well managed.

This post is available on a full time, part time or job share basis, and flexible working hours can be accommodated.
