Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Commercial Finance to join our dynamic team in London. The successful candidate will lead the commercial finance function, providing critical financial insights and strategic guidance to drive business growth and profitability. This role will work closely with the CFO and other senior stakeholders (CEO, COO, Head of Growth) to improve financial performance, inform key business decisions, and ensure the continued success of our marketplace operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Insights and Strategy

  • Provide actionable financial insights to support marketing, logistics, and operational strategies that help drive enhanced contribution margin.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) including return on ad spend (ROAS) and contribution margin to measure business performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive further international growth and value creation.

Financial Analysis and Planning

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to forecast revenue, profitability, and cash flow that underpins 3-year plan and fundraising processes.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor performance, and internal data to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

Team Management and Development

  • Direct and manage the commercial finance analysts, providing guidance, training and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and leverage of AI, and best practices in financial analysis and planning.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with internal teams particularly Data, eComm, Marketing, Operations, Data and Product/Tech teams), external partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders, including senior management, designers, and external partners.

Qualifications: Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or equivalent (ACA, ACCA), or CFA, with a minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience (PQE)

Experience: Highly experienced (e.g. 5+ years) in a commercial finance role, preferably in the e-commerce, retail industry or FMCG.


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data analysis and the ability to interpret data to inform growth strategies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritising multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as Excel/Gsheets, financial planning tools, and ERP systems (Netsuite or similar desirable).
  • People management skills.
