Dartmoor National Park Authority is the body that oversees the vibrant, living, working landscape and community that is Dartmoor National Park.



With the breath-taking landscape, iconic wildlife and beautiful villages, we work to conserve and enhance all of Dartmoor’s special qualities, supporting the associated businesses and communities in partnership with local and national stakeholders.



We protect and maintain natural habitats and areas of ecological significance across Dartmoor, maintain public access to this beautiful space, provide the ranger service and act as the planning authority.



We are now looking for a Head of Communications & Engagement to join us on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role



As our Head of Communications & Engagement, you will ensure we provide a programme of positive, proactive communications and engagement to promote our work.



It’s a vital time to join us as we ensure the evolving story of Dartmoor is communicated effectively. You’ll oversee the Communications and Engagement Team tasked with increasing public understanding of the National Park and the Authority’s role.



You will devise a clear plan of engagement activity to support our priorities, focusing on work that inspires long lasting connections with the National Park.



Managing our reputation, you will oversee all media relations and be the lead officer in developing and delivering our communication plans.



Additionally, you will:



- Oversee digital communications, including our websites

- Oversee the management of Visitor Centres

- Develop external funding bids for programmes of outreach activity

- Support the ‘Dartmoor Foundation’ communications

- Develop and manage annual service plans and budgets



About You



To be considered as our Head of Communications & Engagement, you will need:



- A minimum of five years’ management experience at a senior level

- Experience developing and delivering communication plans

- Experience communicating the vision and values of an organisation

- To be confident using social media as communication tools

- Excellent ICT skills including use Microsoft Office packages

- At a minimum, a degree, professional marketing or communications qualification, (CIM, CIPR or similar), proven suitable sector experience in a marketing and/or communications role
