A brand-new role for a highly-motivated Head of Digital Marketing Operations to join our team at Gear4music plc, one of Europe’s leading Musical Instrument and Equipment e-commerce retailers with over 500 employees across five countries, and revenues of £152m.

Reporting into the Director of E-commerce, you will be an integral part of Gear4music’s ongoing success, with direct management over Performance Marketing, Product Marketing and SEO. You’re an experienced, performance obsessed and hands-on marketing leader, who drives profitable revenue growth across Pay Per Click and wider digital marketing portfolios, including Marketplaces, Affiliates, SEO, Email and more.

The ideal candidate is highly commercial with an analytical, data-driven approach, who is as confident deep-diving and making changes as they are talking strategy. Leading our in-house marketing teams, the Head of Digital Marketing Operations will set and implement strategies that deliver the business’ goals with maximum effectiveness and efficiency. With responsibility for the ROI of our significant marketing budget, this is a pivotal role in achieving our ambitious growth plans.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide robust and commercially focussed leadership to our digital marketing teams, with close day-to-day management of Pay Per Click and Performance Marketing.
  • Be accountable for our key digital marketing KPIs.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that aligns with the company's commercial objectives and maximises ROI.
  • Be hands-on; as well as leading the team and setting strategies, you will make changes and demonstrate what good looks like.
  • Drive profitable revenue growth from Pay Per Click, continuously optimising the channel's effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead performance of our digital marketing portfolio including Marketplace, Affiliates, SEO, Email etc..
  • Leverage multiple data sources to monitor, assess, and report on marketing performance. Utilise data insights to make informed decisions, optimise strategies, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PPC and digital marketing. Implement innovative approaches and tools to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Coach and develop the leaders in your teams to be even more effective, with a key- focus on developing their Performance Management capabilities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across functions, including Buying and Product teams, to ensure marketing strategy aligns with and delivers wider business goals. marketing strategy. Foster a collaborative culture of data-driven decision making and performance optimisation.
  • Ensure consistent and meaningful collaboration between marketing functions occurs, and there is alignment across disciplines.

Your skill-set and experience:

  • Proven experience in digital marketing leadership roles, with a strong focus on PPC.
  • Exceptional commercial and analytical skills, with a track record of leveraging data to inform marketing strategies and decisions.
  • An inquisitive mindset, asking questions and exploring channels, performance and data in detail, when required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PPC platforms (especially Google Ads), analytics tools (including Google Analytics), and wider digital marketing KPIs and principles.
  • Excellent budget management and ROI optimisation capabilities.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven people and performance management capabilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • A bias for action; you make change happen.
  • A hands-on approach, with a passion for accuracy and detail.
