About the role


This role leads the Digital Publishing department of the Academic product group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. The department's remit comprises two principal accountabilities: digital publishing product strategy and cross-functional operational management of digital publishing projects.


You will:



  • surface new opportunities and drive prioritisation of digital publishing product and service experimentation and innovation in partnership with business stakeholders
  • determine where we should focus digital development efforts across medium- and long-term horizons to ensure the competitive success of our research and Higher Education publishing products
  • oversee a small operational team, which drives and aligns cross-functional change across platform products, publishing systems and workflows
  • lead the new digital publishing team to deliver on team objectives
  • actively support new governance structures and ways of working with allied teams to support digital publishing product pipeline and product optimisation

About you


You will have



  • a track record of leading digital product strategy and successful product launches, ideally from within a broader academic context.
  • a keen commercial awareness and ability to define and understand key performance indicators and to translate insights into commercial recommendations.
  • experience of identifying and prioritising amongst strategic problems and opportunities to help the team to present compelling business cases.
  • experience of project management and resource management to launch successfully the new operational wing in the team.

You will be an experienced leader with the confidence to take a new team through organisational change with appropriate personal development support and helping the team to establish new ways of working with allied teams who co-create and deliver new digital publishing product.


Your interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate with numerous senior internal stakeholders across and beyond the Academic product group.


The ideal candidate will also bring experience of working with agile development teams and UXers.
