Job descriptionJob Role: Head of DramaLocation: Hackney Salary: M1 - M6 Start Date: September 2024 Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays – the fourth day could be Thursday or Friday)Exciting Opportunity for a Head of Drama in Hackney!Are you a passionate and dynamic Head of Drama looking to lead and inspire? We are seeking an enthusiastic Head of Drama to join our vibrant secondary school in Hackney. This is a fantastic chance to make a significant impact in the performing arts department and to foster a love for drama among our students.Head of Drama Responsibilities:Able to teach key stages 3 and key stages 4.Lead and manage the Drama department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.Develop and implement engaging and creative Drama curriculum and lesson plans.Mentor and support Drama teachers, fostering professional development and sharing best practices.Organize and oversee school productions, performances, and extra-curricular drama activities.Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to promote growth.Collaborate with other department heads and school leadership to enhance the overall educational experience.Head of Drama Requirements:Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.Proven experience in teaching Drama at the secondary level.Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.Excellent communication and organizational skills.A passion for Drama and the ability to bring creativity into the classroom.Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.Candidates must have QTS – without QTS, they will not be considered.Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
