Gympanzees is a multi-award-winning Bristol based charity. Our mission is to ensure all children and young people with a disability have access to regular exercise, play and friendship. Our aim is to open multiple exercise and play facilities around the
country – the first of which will be in Bristol.

As Head of Marketing and Fundraising you would have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of disabled children and young people by ensuring the organisation can maximise its reach and funding opportunities.

The Head of Fundraising and Marketing is responsible for all aspects of income generation including corporate, community, individual giving and trusts and foundations. Leading a team of five, the postholder will grow and develop existing income streams as well as take on the challenge of diversifying into new income channels to fund emerging plans. Although the role will oversee all fundraising activities there will be a particular focus on the postholder to develop corporate and individual giving to support a multimillion-pound capital appeal. The post is also pivotal in raising the company profile through overseeing Marketing and Communications activities.

Main Responsibilities – include but are not limited to

  • Developing the Fundraising and Marketing strategy and leading on its delivery and evaluation.
  • Leading on the development of annual operating plans and annual income and expenditure budgets for Fundraising and Marketing.
  • Managing and overseeing all fundraising activities from key income streams including community fundraising, trusts and grants, fundraising events, corporate giving, and individual giving and ensure incoming funds meet the targets set within the annual budget.
  • Identifying and developing new opportunities for income generation that engage the supporter base, attracting new supporters.
  • Leading on the development of corporate partnerships, building on existing relationships and attracting new partnerships. Building relationships with high profile and high net worth individuals as potential donors to the organisation and leading the development of a major donor programme.
  • Supporting the Fundraising Assistant to achieve income targets for community, challenge, and events fundraising.
  • Working with the Marketing Manager to ensure that all communications and publications reflect the organisations values and brand.
  • Working with the Marketing Manager to develop integrated campaigns to support the brand message across appropriate media channels and ensure consistency of message to each stakeholder group.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive and integrated donor journey is in place, allowing the effective stewardship and engagement with donors to ensure retention.
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with and demonstrating high standards of care for all supporters, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Devising and ensuring the maintenance of accurate systems including developing a supporter database to ensure efficient donor management, and for recording applications and funds raised across different income streams.
  • Line managing and motivating direct reports within the Fundraising and Marketing Team, providing effective regular supervision and annual appraisals.
  • Contributing to the development of a longer-term strategic vision.
  • Working with Senior Management Team to support the development of a culture of fundraising protecting and promoting our brand and its values.

Personal Specification

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience of strategy development and planning.
  • Experience of developing and delivering operational fundraising and / or marketing plans and KPIs.
  • Experience of planning, developing, and managing budgets including forecasting.
  • Proven track record in professional fundraising with experience of a broad range of techniques for income generation.
  • Proven track record in securing major donations and grants (£50,000 +).
  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder and donor relationships.
  • Demonstrable ability to initiate, develop and deliver new initiatives and build on their success.
  • Experience of people/team management and development.
  • A good understanding of digital media with regards to fundraising and marketing.
  • A good understanding of the principles of marketing.
