Harris Hill are delighted to be partnering with a famous historical garden in Edinburgh to recruit an outstanding Head of Individual Giving to advance their individual giving programmes.
The Garden is one of the top four botanic gardens in the world. Founded in 1670, it is home to one of the world's best living collections of plants, a herbarium of three million preserved specimens and one of the UK's most comprehensive botanical libraries. Not only is it a leading visitor attraction, it also advances collections-based biodiversity research and education across a wide spectrum of organisms and geographical regions. This range, coupled with their partnerships with local and international Higher Education institutions and research institutes, provides an essential platform for tackling some of the world's most pressing environmental challenges.
The Development Division is full of passionate and talented people who approach their work with drive, commitment, and fun, and we are looking for an exceptional candidate to be part of the team and help lead the Individual Giving Team for the future.
As a member of the Senior Leadership team, the Head of Individual Giving will work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the corporate strategy and plans. Providing strong leadership, you will proactively drive significant growth in their supporter base, raise their profile as a charity and help maximise fundraising potential.
The key focus of this role will be building a strong supporter base. You will look after the regular giving, legacy, membership, visitor giving, and commemorative fundraising programme and play a key role in developing the Membership base. This will include redesigning the Membership offer to current and future members, growing the annual membership income and increasing annual membership retention. You will have line manage responsibility for the operations posts within the team, ensuring each team member is achieving professional development. In addition, you will work closely with Marketing and Communications at a strategic level to develop a supporter engagement toolkit to support both membership acquisition and retention, as well as increasing donations to other Individual Giving programmes.
This role would be a fantastic next step for an experienced individual giving, mass fundraising or membership professional who is ready to take ownership of this programme and take it to the next level. It would suit an excellent all-round communicator and personable relationship manager, who is confident with public speaking. An interest in conservation and the environment would certainly be beneficial.
They are also interested in hearing from candidates with a more commercial background who are keen to bring their transferable skills into this area of fundraising.
