Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the Sector Head and broader SLT to identify and agree strategic priorities for the HAST platform – including (i) specific investment goals for existing mandates and funds, and (ii) business development priorities across the entire housing sector.
  • Implement best-in-class practices as it relates to transactional processes, deal sourcing, underwriting and transaction execution. In parallel, responsibility for stakeholder management to facilitate clinical approvals at both the capital and internal Nuveen Investment Committee levels.
  • Establishing a direct network of contacts within the market and identifying target acquisitions through direct origination channels.
  • Close collaboration with the European platform to leverage network and identify innovative investment opportunities.
  • Building a comprehensive understanding on the emerging trends and market characteristics of Europe’s housing sectors to help orientate both existing and new strategies.
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, alongside other key business functions, to support marketing campaigns.
  • Line management of the pan-European investment team – overall responsibility for their management and delivery of key objectives.
  • Ad hoc support for the Portfolio Management team and broader HAST team as required.

Technical Skills & Qualifications Required

  • 10+ years’ real estate experience, either within an investment management / private equity fund or investment bank.
  • Significant experience in the housing sector, operational real estate as well as multi-geographical transactions would be highly advantageous.
  • A genuine interest in expanding knowledge across sub-segments of the housing sector, with an intellectual curiosity to challenge norms and consider how changing consumer behaviors and lifestyle choices could influence future investment performance.
  • Organised, diligent and detail orientated, able to effectively manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong financial modelling skills including the ability to build financial models from scratch.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills, able to distill high volumes of information and communicate succinctly in verbal presentations and marketing materials.
  • Personable, team player with a willingness to support other team members when called upon.
  • An independent and innovative thinker with strong leadership skills and team oriented mindset.
  • Interest/passion in the “future of housing” and how technology, service and sustainability will impact the sector in the future.

Competencies Required

  • Highly numerate with strong financial modelling skills;
  • Strong track-record of sourcing, executing and exiting housing investments across Europe;
  • Extensive network across the brokerage, developer, operator, investment banking community;
  • Strong inter-personal skills and proven management track-record;
  • Thought leader – willing to think outside the box;
  • Ability to adapt across different geographies and cultures.
