Job purpose:

As Head of IT Delivery & Testing, you will be the leader responsible for delivering our IT roadmap to time, cost and quality, ensuring a brilliant implementation of new projects and changes.

We are an agile organisation so making sure we have the right squads and resources is critical as is understanding the business priorities.

Leading and inspiring a varied team of development and testing resources, internally and through our external 3rd parties, you will inspire the group in delivering IT change for the entire organisation.

You will work with the strategy to take a feed of activity and the architecture team to drive implementation of the design through to implementation to the requirements of our business stakeholders before handing over the solution post implementation to the Service Management team. Providing reporting, workshops and business engagement, your team will manage the lifecycle of the project from Handover from the IT Strategy and Business Analysis team.

Running the testing team and wider testing community, you will ensure the defect management process runs well and that we are evaluating the quality of solution being implemented.

What you’ll be doing:

Strategy:

• Collaborate with the CIO and Head of IT strategy to shape and execute the IT delivery strategy.
• Provide expertise in traditional and new technologies, including IT delivery, Testing and Cloud Solutions. Provide innovation to our approach.
• Develop and maintain the IT delivery roadmap for IT services aligned with business objectives and reporting at the weekly PMO session.

Team Management:

• Lead a team of IT professionals, including Designers, Developers, Scrum Maters, Testing team (in house and outsourced).
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
• Create open and collaborative environment to work in, be flexible, adaptable and have a willingness to learn.
• Engage in elements of risk management such as effectively managing and tracking the mitigation of risks and manage various dependencies across teams, departments and governance as a whole and inform go / no go decisions.
• Have a forward view to be able to identify potential roadblocks and cross project dependencies and effectively manage these before they have a material impact on the roadmap.
• Manage talent, succession planning, and vendor relationships.

IT Delivery, Testing and Governance:

• Ensure holistic ownership and governance of IT delivery and testing throughout its lifecycle.
• Manage and monitor IT delivery and testing performance, compliance and SLAs.
• Provide Leadership in the resolutions of inter-program and inter-project issues and through provision of inspiration, guidance, support and coaching to members of the team.

Business Alignment:

• Work closely with senior stakeholders to align IT delivery and testing with business goals.
• Communicate effectively across organisational and technical boundaries, understanding the context and communicate with business people and management on their terms.
• Champion a customer first approach to IT delivery and testing.

The experience we’re looking for you to bring:

• 10+ years of IT Experience including driving an IT roadmap and delivering significant IT change
• Ability to conduct research into testing and software-related delivery techniques
• Hands on experience of developing test cases, test automation and test plans.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and mentoring less experienced team members.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven experience in commercial engagements, including contract negotiation, risk management, implementation and impact analysis.
• Experience of managing and/or engaging with multiple vendors on new high profile and technologically innovative enterprise wide solutions.
• Experience with Project Management and Agile Methodologies and processes.
• Experience of working to and exceeding targets.
• Knowledge of ISO9001 Standard.
• Extensive knowledge of the development lifecycle within the telecommunications industry.
• Advanced in Jira Skills.
• Budgetary control and resource allocation procedures.
• Relevant external certifications are advantageous.
