Job Description
We are working with a Social Housing Provider who are looking to recruit a Head of Legal on a permanent basis.
The organisation is looking for a business focussed qualified individual to come in and work with the Executive Director to set up the inhouse legal department, with an initial focus on disrepair and then forward planning for the next couple of years.
Duties will include:
- Overseeing the delivery of a range of legal advice including property, housing management, disrepairs, general commercial, data protection and other ad hoc legal matters.
- Managing own caseload of legal work which could include general property queries, commercial contracts, data protection, housing or other general legal advice as required by the organisation.
- Managing the organisations external legal providers, ensuring the delivery of a quality service which represents value for money and the needs of the organisation.
- Manage the recruitment, performance management and development of quality staff to ensure required skilled staff are available to fulfil contract specifications in line with customer expectations.
- Provide support to the Executive Director of Governance on other ad hoc legal matters that may be required from time to time.
We are looking for:
- A solicitor or Legal Executive – 7 years plus PQE / Experience of working in a similar role
- Previous experience of working for a Social Housing Provider
- Experience of advising senior managers and staff on a breadth of legal issues.
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude
