Job description

THE ROLE

We're six years into our journey of making public services people services, and to paraphrase the Carpenters - we've only just begun! We're not here to just make a difference. Our big ambition is to create ground-shaking impact that translates to real change for local people in local communities across the Liverpool City Region and North West. And we're looking for somebody brilliant to influence how we tell the world about what we're doing, because as a young-ish organisation, we truly believe our best is yet to come.

This is a significant opportunity for a communications leader and strategist to join a unique organisation, to be part of and influence the next stage of our journey.

Your professional experience will demonstrate your deep understanding and track record of working in public services, the voluntary sector and communities You'll be proactive in planning and delivering our communication strategy whilst also keeping a handle on any reactive comms we might need to do along the way. You'll support us to get new clients on board but also engage our existing clients, making sure they stay informed of what we're up to and feel proud to be part of the "Capacity gang".

You will thrive in understanding the diverse impact of a portfolio of complex projects and will relish the challenge of translating this into stories and insights that not only tell the world about the brilliant work we're doing but creatively demonstrates the need for Capacity as a trusted partner of the public and third sectors.

We're not a huge organisation! You'll be part of a small team of circa. 24 people, made up of a group of diverse in experience, high-functioning and committed colleagues, who are comfortable switching between thinking, planning and doing. You'll provide leadership to a small team of impact and communications specialists and will manage external associates. You will build a team that not only understands the important intertwining of impact, communications and marketing but can leverage this dynamic to help Capacity to achieve its objectives. You'll be an expert plate spinner who excels at managing multiple projects, people and priorities. You are someone with good judgement who gets things done.

On a project basis you'll support the Senior Leadership Team and the wider team on clear and effective marketing and communications strategies making sure they find creative and successful ways to get through to their different audiences.

Aside from the person we're looking for being technically expert at marketing and communications, what's really important to us is that you're in it for the right reasons - you want to work with us because you want public services to be the best they can be for the real people at the end of them.
