Job Description

The Head of Marketing & Communications is an exciting cross-functional role for a senior marketeer and communications professional. You will be an engaging storyteller – experienced in using a range of outlets, from press releases to newsletters, in order to tell Creative UK’s brand story. Through your work, you will clearly communicate the value of the Cultural and Creative Industries to a range of audiences – including members, policy makers and external stakeholders.

You will be a strong people manager, innovator, decision maker and always focus on the bigger picture. The Head of Marketing & Communications will lead the team in developing and delivering a growth strategy which builds the Creative UK brand via audience engagement. Your key goal will be to boost Creative UK’s profile, driving thousands of individuals and businesses to access the transformational services and membership we provide for the Cultural and Creative Industries.

LOCATION: Hybrid working available with offices in MediaCityUK, Bristol and Central London.Min 2 days per week in Creative UK Workspace.

SALARY: £45,000 to £50,000 depending on experience + benefits

CONTRACT: Full time permanent employee

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications

  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications on the design and delivery of a dynamic marketing and communications strategy, working across a range of external and internal platforms, including media, social media and the Creative UK website
  • Oversee management of Creative UK’s communications calendar, ensuring a consistent and integrated external voice promoting all aspects of Creative UK’s work
  • Proactively manage our media relations and press office, driving media coverage, improving brand awareness and salience of Creative UK in the UK and beyond
  • Work productively with internal stakeholders, external clients and partners to present Creative UK’s work with compelling messaging, working with the Head of Content to develop multimedia assets where necessary
  • Work with the Brand Marketing team and colleagues from across the organisation to develop and manage an effective and impactful social media communications output
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Creative UK’s internal teams to maximise the communications reach and value of policy and research initiatives
  • Ensure that regional and product communications activities are aligned with central Creative UK policies and procedures

Marketing

  • Work closely with the Head of Content to support the development of brand architecture and value proposition
  • Support the Head of Content to manage, maintain and develop the brand’s visual identity
  • Support the Head of Events to effectively promote and ticket Creative UK brand events
  • Support the Head of Events and Creative UK’s leadership team in landing high impact ‘moments’ that deliver engagements with UK Government, the political calendar, Cultural and Creative Industries trade and representative associations and the wider Creative UK membership
  • Manage the Creative UK marketing tech stack, including website, HUBSPOT, GOOGLE Analytics etc – ensuring effective and consistent use across the team that maximises the value that we drive from the platforms

People and Budget Management

  • Mentor and develop the communications and marketing team ensuring that development plans are in place and appraisals conducted
  • Manage freelancers where required across marketing and comms disciplines
  • Accountable for the marketing and communications budget, ensuring appropriate and effective spend as required
  • Attend Creative UK Management and/or Executive meetings where required, playing an integral role in wider business discussions

Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrable marketing planning and strategy experience (ideally from creative sector background)
  • Digital marketing skills; demonstrable experience in web site development, PPC, social and email campaigns
  • Strong written skills
  • Collaborative relationship building skills with the ability to adapt style
  • Copywriting skills; experience creating compelling content
  • Budget management; experience in managing budgets effectively, reporting and setting effective performance measures.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
  • Strong IT skills, including design tools (Adobe suite, Canva etc) and CRM systems (Hubspot experience desirable)
  • Media experience (desirable)
  • Team Management; experience leading and coaching talent
  • Ability to meet targets, deadlines and work under pressure
