Job Description

Murray McIntosh is looking for a dedicated and skilled Head of Policy (Distributed Generation), to join our client's inclusive and collaborative team. This full-time policy role is based in London with flexible, hybrid working, and offers an opportunity to have a real impact on the solar energy market.

As Head of Policy for Distributed Generation, you will direct the association's work on distributed generation, including the development of policy positions and related activities that support the growth of the solar sector in the UK. You will also identify and shape responses to political, technical, economic, regulatory and other issues that impact the solar and energy storage industry. Please note that this position can be full-time (37.5 hours per week) or a four-day week with pro-rata pay.

In your first few weeks in this Head of Policy role, you can expect to:

  • Identify and develop responses to policy and other issues relating to the UK's distributed-scale solar and energy storage industry
  • Commission and conduct research and analysis on technical, economic and environmental topics
  • Guide responses to consultations, calls for evidence and other inquiries
  • Represent the solar industry at government, industry, regulator, research, media and other energy sector forums, including organising, participating in and chairing events

To apply for this Policy role, you will need demonstrable experience related to research and environmental issues, sustainability or environmental issues, preferably with a focus on UK renewables, electricity markets or networks. You will also require demonstrated experience in developing policy positions and using these to influence government, industry and energy sector stakeholders successfully. In addition, you should have excellent numeracy and analytical skills with experience in developing and working with data models. Knowledge or experience in UK political and policy processes is also essential.
