The Head of Procurement will set the strategic direction for a team of category managers whilst leading, developing and motivating them to deliver best in class strategic sourcing across a diverse spend portfolio. The role holder will work closely with the Procurement Director to deliver integrated value solutions by working across business units to create synergies of spend. The successful candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate the ability to think strategically, drive for results, build relationships, show awareness of market knowledge & data analysis, and be able to lead senior negotiations while ensuring that effective engagement with senior stakeholders is maintained.

In addition, the role holder will be an expert in all areas of Procurement, be able to coach and mentor a senior team effectively, whilst being a role models for the TalkTalk values – We Care, We Challenge, We Commit

The Team

The TalkTalk Procurement team is an exciting and fast paced central function managing third party spend across all Business Units. We are a small, dynamic, busy team, split by key categories of indirect and direct spend and we often find the biggest opportunities by working together. We work collaboratively with our stakeholders to really focus on the priorities where we add the most value, sometimes to meet short term needs but mostly to deliver on an overall strategy to meet business goals.

  • Strategically aware – Has a developed knowledge of factors and influences that affect sourcing and can apply to complex situations
  • Driving for Results – Has the ability to create a clear procurement pipeline and drive its execution to deliver annualised savings targets for the TalkTalk group
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Has a proven track record in building relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and use a network of relationships to influence and solve problems
  • Market Knowledge & Data Analysis – Has strong knowledge of relevant supply markets, and the ability to interpret simple and complex data into a succinct meaningful overview
  • Commercial acumen – Able to drive, lead and execute on complex negotiations, often by applying a different lens to meet the business needs
  • Leadership – Coaching and line management responsibility for Category Managers and is an exemplar of the company values, We Care, We Challenge, We Commit
  • Mentoring – Approachable and creates an environment in which team members feel valued and have a sense of progression and appropriate career challenge.
