Head of Research:
An environmental services organisation based in the UK is seeking a head of research to join their team. They are looking for passionate people to interested in solving problems to restore global issues.
This is an opportunity to work between the ecology team and technical team to drive innovation and change.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a vision for scaling automated solutions to address ecological needs.
- Spearhead the development of innovative tech solutions alongside data scientists, engineers, and commercial teams.
- Provide scientific direction for ecosystem restoration initiatives, ensuring alignment with best practices and research.
- Oversee the ecological field research and AI/ML model development team.
- Support project delivery by collaborating with GMs and global teams on large-scale restoration projects.
- Forge strong partnerships with industry, government, and academia to identify new restoration opportunities.
- Contribute to the company's overall strategy and vision as a member of the executive leadership team.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record using innovative technologies (remote sensing, GIS, machine learning) and data analysis for ecosystem evaluation and restoration.
- Extensive knowledge of ecological principles, restoration techniques, and biodiversity measurement tools and reporting frameworks.
- Proficiency in environmental impact assessment.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in ecological restoration.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex ecological concepts for diverse audiences.
- Data-driven and passionate about exploring new methodologies beyond traditional approaches to address global environmental challenges.
