Job Role

  • Protect the MIB by ensuring that it adequately identifies and mitigates its key risks
  • Champion a culture of excellent risk management throughout the MIB
  • Provide an advisory role on risk management across MIB ensuring best practice
  • Monitor and report on Customer Complaints, identifying root causes and influencing change to improve customer experience
  • To prepare and implement a risk assessment and management framework including appropriate policies, tools and methodologies
  • To promote a risk awareness culture within MIB
  • To establish a programme that embeds the management and profiling of risk within MIB
  • Review and identify controls and assess adequacy for critical processes
  • Review MIB complaint handling policy and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage MIB complaints in accordance with policy and procedures working with the business areas to optimise benefits
  • To be responsible for overseeing, challenging and supporting the disaster recovery, business continuity and crisis management plans for MIB
  • Liaise closely with Internal/External Audit on risk management issues that impact upon the Group
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of the latest changes across industry. Introduce the latest best practice and thought leadership to enhance MIB’s performance
  • Lead, coach and retain a high performing and cohesive team to attain objectives and aspirations. Ensuring a focus on performance management, personal development and talent management. Build succession plans, as appropriate
  • To drive a positive, proactive and expert risk management culture that is respected by the business and influences others how to own and manage their risks effectively
  • Drive the design and articulation of a coherent risk infrastructure, (including appropriate policies, tools and methodologies), so that growth and business initiatives are managed within an acceptable tolerance
  • Ensure the development, management and continuous improvement of qualitative and quantitative risk reporting that engages the end user

Qualifications and Education

Skills and Knowledge

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • A relevant risk management qualification
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment including experience at senior management level
  • The ability to influence decisions at executive and senior management level
  • Experience of leading, managing and developing a team, maintain a collaborative and constructive working environment within a department and across the organisation
  • Experience of communicating and presenting highly complex information to internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to deal with confidential matters with discretion and tact
  • Maintains the highest professional standards to ensure the organisation is not in a position of risk
  • Works collaboratively with partners internally and externally to resolve conflicts to acceptable outcome
  • Extensive experience of risk management

We are currently working from home but will return with a hybrid of office/home working in early 2022
