Job Description

Prima Cheese is a successful food manufacturing business looking to maintain, diversify and increase their Brand and Portfolio presence within the UK Food Industry. We are currently looking for a high-performing Head of Sales based in Islington, North London, with occasional travel to the company HQ based in Durham, Northeast of England.

This role will allow the company to meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth targets, by keeping the company competitive and innovative with responsibility for maximising our sales by way of active retention and growth within regional markets, sales analysis, and utilisation of marketing.

Reporting to the Co-CEO, the successful Head of Sales will be analytical, communicates effectively with people on their team and other managers within the company where collaboration is essential.

They must have good people skills for working together towards common goals. They must be able to plan strategically and effectively communicate plans, projects and ideas to their colleagues and company directors, have experience of working within a marketing team managing and coordinating effective promotion campaigns.

The successful candidate will:

  • Achieving growth and hitting sales targets by successfully managing Business Development Mangers and poses strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Develop strong relationships with existing clients to maximise revenue and understanding the market.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our products and that of competitors.
  • Regional sales growth - plan regional sales activities which encourage and promote company presence and brands.
  • Be fully aware and informed about marketing activities which will include being responsible for brand promotions.
  • Support and coach the Marketing team to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with marketing to create promotional material to use across all UK regional sales, supporting the customer and raising the profile of the company.
  • Ensure the growth of new business.
  • Lead effective marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • Provide support and development of the customer care team.
  • Responsibility for the support and development of customer accounts on a national level.
  • Key knowledge/experience in driving sales in relevant various market sectors including food manufacturing and B2B.
  • Lead, manage and develop and performance manage team.
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
  • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the company.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, such as production, purchasing and transport to ensure seamless coordination and timely delivery of products.
  • Maintain strong relationships with our network of wholesalers, cash and carry, and distributors, addressing their enquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, best practices and recommend adjustments to our supply chain strategies accordingly.
  • Track, measure, and analyse commercial metrics using KPI’s.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Successful previous experience as a strong leader and manager
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Essential - Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.
  • Prior experience and knowledge working in a supply chain role, ideally within a manufacturing or processing environment, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles, logistics and inventory control.
  • Essential - Familiarity in the UK with distributors, wholesale cash & carry and foodservice markets.
  • Excellent communication and people skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Person Specification:

  • Background, preferably in the food service industry and/or FMCGs
  • Experience in Client Relationship Management
  • In depth knowledge of market analysis and metrics
  • Direct experience in creating reporting and managing budgets.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage own diary.
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
