Head of Software
My client is currently looking to hire a Head of Software with deep technical expertise who is excited and passionate about utilising cutting edge and innovative technologies to develop and deliver digital, cloud based, secure platforms. The successful candidate will be a strong leader and accustomed to acting as an agent of change, as well as consistently and constructively challenging established ways of working and traditional software delivery processes within organisations.
The Head of Software will be working on the software development for a large, complex, multi million pound programme, playing a key role in developing the open source, distributed middleware platform that will act as the 'brain' for all other components to feed into. If of interest, The Head of Software could have a key role in developing, mentoring and advancing other software developers within the organisation as well as managing and assuring the delivery of a large number of third party software providers.
Skills/experience/technologies:
Experience of designing software based on different data architectures (e.g. relational, NoSQL, Big Data, streaming data analytics)
Demonstrable experience having worked on the software development of secure, digital cloud based platforms/open source software platforms.
Experience of designing software in a variety of deployment settings (e.g. Cloud, On-Premise Data Centre, Desktop, Mobile, Embedded
A demonstrable passion for developing high quality software solutions
An ability to pick up new tools, frameworks and languages fast

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to play a key role in the delivery of a flagship, mulit million pound programme that will run for the next ten years whilst also evolving the software development capability of the wider organisation by bringing new ideas and cutting edge technologies into play.
We are not looking for someone who is only used to developing software adhering to one framework/methodology. We want someone who is comfortable bringing different methodologies into play depending upon the scenario and pushing back against the orthodox way of working within organisations.
Industry wise my client does not have a particular bias provided you are working on secure, digital, cloud based platforms and utilising the latest technologies to construct and develop those platforms.
